A Japanese Scary Story You've Never Heard Before

A Japanese Scary Story You've Never Heard Before

A scary story I once heard in Japan…

There was once a man.

One day, his wife dies mysteriously.

He was concerned how his little boy would react.

But days went by.

Weeks went by.

And the little boy doesn’t mention a word about his missing mother.

The man was confused.

Did his son not notice?

Did he not care?

Did he hate his mother?

Until he could stand it no longer.

He needed to know what was going on.

So the man finally asked his son.

“Do you have anything you want to ask me?”

“Well…” said the little boy.

“I’ve been meaning to ask…”

“Yes?” asked the man, his heart racing.

“Why are you always carrying mommy on your back?”

😳

😨

😱

I tell you, Japan is chock full of some creepy stories.

My cousins who live there all talk about their personal encounters with the paranormal. There’s one in particular that makes me go whaaaaat the… but that’s a story for another day.

The thing is, stories about Japan are a part of how I grew up, so to me, they are just kind of the norm.

You probably have tons of stories that feel ordinary, but to people who didn’t grow up like you, those stories can be wildly interesting. Thrilling even.

My recommendation for you is to keep a story vault.

Create a simple Google doc, and whenever you think of an interesting, funny, silly, memorable (even creepy and weird) story, jot it down.

Then, when you’re at a loss for content, you can turn to your trusted vault.

The best part is, it doesn’t even have to be your story.

And don’t feel pressured to connect every single story to a business idea, sales pitch, or making a big ol’ profound point with it.

Keep jotting them down, keep sharing, and keep learning from people you admire.

There’s no way you won’t get better at your own storytelling.

And if you don’t feel like sharing one of your stories today, go ahead and share this spooky Japanese horror story with someone who could use a little thrill right now.
